Now in its twenty second year, John Powell's throwing camp provides activities designed to help develop skills and a mastery of all throwing events. We use a "learn by doing" format, which includes lots of throwing and fun drills, and video review. Instruction is personally directed by John and Brian to accommodate all levels of expertise and we include special guest coaches and elite athletes for extra inspiration. Alumni include over 150 state meet qualifiers and 76 state meet champions! 2005 Campers- Click for Larger Photo DENISON UNIVERSITY, OHIO COST: $545 ($595 after May 15, 2008) includes room & 3 meals a day ACCOMMODATIONS: Each camper will be housed in Denison University dorms and provided with linens and three cafeteria-style meals with choice of entree. LOCATION: Denison University is located off of State Routes 16 and 37 just 24 miles east of Columbus in Granville, Ohio. The phone number at Denison is (740) 587-0810. TRANSPORTATION: All campers are responsible for their own transportation to and from Granville. All campers who drive to Denison on their own will be required to turn in their car keys for the duration of camp. We can provide transportation  from Columbus International Airport to Denison for a fee of $25.00 each way. Pick-up times: 1:00pm on Sunday, June 15, 22. REGISTRATION: Follow the Campus sign to registration June 15/22, 2008, registration from 2:00 until 5:00 pm. Camp will end Friday, June 20& 27 at 12:00 pm. FACILITIES: Denison University has outstanding track & field facilities, and has been host to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The University also has premier indoor track facilities, ensuring optimal learning opportunities. PAYMENT: A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due with registration. BRIAN OLDFIELD   threw far...really, really far! He was the first man to throw 73', 74', and 75' in the Shot Put. he held the American and World records. He was a Munich Olympian and a National Champion Brian competitor in the World's Strongest Man and Superstars Competition. He graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. He's a spinner but he threw over 70' with Glide.
	YOURI SEDYKH set six World Hammer Records between 1980 and 1986. His 1980 Olympic Games Gold medal distance was a WR. He threw over 80m every yea r from 1980 to 1992 and has thrown over 85m 21times. He reached his peak at the1986 European Championships in Stuttgart where he had five throws averaging 86.16m, including his sixth World record of 86.74m (284'7") which still stands today.
