YOURI SEDYKH set six World Hammer Records between 1980 and 1986. His 1980 Olympic Games Gold medal distance was a WR. He threw over 80m every yea r from 1980 to 1992 and has thrown over 85m 21times. He reached his peak at the1986 European Championships in Stuttgart where he had five throws averaging 86.16m, including his sixth World record of 86.74m (284'7") which still stands today.
